Frank R. Sykes
Lee's Summitt, Mo. -- Frank Robert Sykes, 66, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 1986, in Lee's Summitt, Mo. He was a retired police officer. He was born June 18, 1920, in Oswego, to Ross and Rose Sykes. He attended Oswego High School. In July 1946, he was married to Mary Jo Abbott. She survives of the home. He was the first chief of police in Oswego. He worked for the Parsons Police Department for five years and worked for 20 years in the Kansas City area, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Christian Center Church in Lee's Summitt. Survivors include: two sons, Lon and Jeffrey, both of Lee's Summitt; one daughter, Gwyn Ann Willey of Oak Grove, Mo.; two brothers, Dan of Oswego and Howard of Augusta; three sisters, Ione Fulton of Denison, Texas; Rose Addis and Ruth Wolf, both of Oswego; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Lynn. The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oswego United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Hendrickson and the Rev. John Rieder, both of Lee's Summit, officiating. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Oswego Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3399. Sperry-McConnell-Bath Funeral Home of Altamont is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the Christian Center Church of Lee's Summitt. |
