David Victory Sikes


     David Victory Sikes, on April 1, 1922, in the family home in Suffield, Conn., and a resident of Denham Springs, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009, at his residence at the age of 86.

     He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was a retired instrument engineer with Shell Oil Corporation. For many years of his life, he was very active as a troop leader in the Boy Scouts of America.

     He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertha Sikes; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tommy Gipson; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Sikes; son, David Alan Sikes and his fiancee', Roberta; sisters, Jeanne Weise and Gay Fuller; brothers, Arthur, Horace "Hally" and Maynard, Jr. "Bunk"; and grandchildren, Leah, Sarah, Amy and Jason.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Adda Bell Sikes; son, Bradford Rider Sikes; sister, Dorothy Underhill; brothers, Richard and Hamilton Sikes.

     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Seale Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Alan Sikes.
